Both of my big toenails look slightly yellow and are, indeed, a bit flaky. I thought that it was discoloration from lots of nail polish without basecoat and my lack of calcium, but I also have bits of “gunk” or debris that collect under the nail and smell. Is this normal or does this seem like a fungus?

I just noticed that one of my toes seemed lighter on the board. When I inquired further, I found it was able to pull the nail plate from the nail bed quite easily, without pain. This has never happened before. It could be a nail fungus before? My husband has had nail fungus for years. Can I get it?
